IQs of Artificial Intelligence and 6-year-old child are almost equal

Beijing Jiaotong University scientists developed an algorithm that can test modern AI systems’ IQ level. Google showed the best result, as its capabilities almost coincide with a six-year-old IQ development.

The average IQ for kids is 55.5, for teenagers – 84.5, adults – 97. Google scored 47.28.

Besides Google, some of the best are Duer, Baidu, Sogou, Bing, XiaoBing and SIRI.

In the testing process, researchers run a check for seven different intelligence levels: from zero to six. Afterwards, with their help, developers classified the AI systems.

What skills were measured?

  • information input/output execution;
  • local database existence (or absence);
  • updating and expanding the database;
  • ability to disseminate knowledge among other AIs.

Most of the modern devices are at 2 and 3 levels. For example, smart TVs or smart refrigerators are second level representatives. They interact with the human but have very few functions. Smartphones and PCs are on the third level, as their functionality is much wider.

Artificial intelligence systems belong to the fourth class, since they have some autonomy in the learning process and automatic updating. Examples include Google Brain and Baidu Brain.
