Amazon Alexa to allow users to communicate in a video chat

Amazon Alexa voice assistant will become even more functional. Now users will be able to use it to communicate with each other. Currently, the technology is going through beta testing. The official announcement about the device upgrade is expected to be made in the nearest future.

Amazon is continually improving its products to make them even more popular and useful for customers. Meanwhile, the most widely used functions of Alexa voice service are music and weather forecast notification. Company decided to add another function to this list for consumers to use it more often.

According to trusted sources, Amazon Echo will be used as a phone and an intercom. Earlier company had invested in Nucleus startup, which developed a laptop that could be used as a video intercom. Thus, tablet’s communicative functions will soon be available in Amazon’s voice service.

It isn’t clear yet whether Amazon Echo users will have separate phone numbers or existing numbers and contacts could be synchronized with the device. Company representatives don’t comment on the new product, so there is no information as to when the updated device will go for sale.
